DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Devils Lake Police Chief Joe Knowski says he is moving up his planned departure from the police department.
Knowski announced several months ago that he planned to leave the department as of May 1. He now says he will step down on Feb. 23 to take a job with the Transportation Security Administration at the Devils Lake Regional Airport.
Knowski says it is bittersweet to leave the police department, but after nearly six years as chief, he is ready for a new opportunity.
The Devils Lake City Commission is expected to discuss how to fill the top job at the police department on an interim basis during the commission meeting on Monday while starting the search for a permanent chief.
