Gordon Hogenson was born March 17, 1932 near Winger, MN the son of Theodore and Agnes (Mykleby) Hogenson. He grew up on the family farm in the Winger, MN area, attending a one-room schoolhouse for his early education. Gordon later graduated from high school in McIntosh, MN, in 1950.
Following high school, Gordon was a mechanic at Hoffard’s Garage and discovered his lifelong talent for Auto Body Repair.
Gordon married Sonja Vesledahl on June 11, 1955, beginning their life long journey of 68 years together.
In 1969, Gordon and Sonja moved to the Halstad, MN area. Gordon was the owner and operator of Halstad Body Shop, until his retirement in the late 1990’s. After retirement he worked part-time at the Cenex Store in Halstad for a few years.
Throughout his retirement, Gordon found joy in crafting beautiful woodworking projects. These intricate pieces became cherished gifts for Sonja, his children and grandchildren.
Gordon is survived by his wife Sonja and their children; James (Joy) Hogenson, White Bear Lake, MN; Mark (Theresa) Hogenson, Loveland, CO; Daniel (Jennifer) Hogenson, Hillsboro, ND; Kathy (Jon) Bayman, Fargo, ND; and Philip (Karmell) Hogenson, Moorhead, MN; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; his brother Karsten (Ellen) Hogenson, Silver Bay, MN; Brother in-law Raymond Vesledahl, Minneapolis, MN; Sister in-law Carolyn Vesledahl Martinsburg,VA and many nieces and nephews.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; father in-law and mother in-law Martin and Beatrice Vesledahl; sister in-law and brother in-law LuElla (Al) Jirik; brother in-law Manford Vesledahl and daughter Connie Hogenson.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024, with visitation one hour prior at Korsmo Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Landstad Cemetery, rural Perley, MN, at a later date.
