CLOQUET, Minn. (KFGO) – Names have been released of those involved in a fatal shooting at the Super 8 hotel in Cloquet west of Duluth Monday night.
Nicholas Lenius, 32, of Ramsey, Minn. was found dead outside the hotel from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victim found inside a vehicle in the parking lot has been identified as Patrick Roers of Deer River.
The 22-year-old hotel clerk has been identified as Shellby Trettel of Cloquet. She was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth where she died.
Police Chief Derek Randall said the investigation remains active but investigators are still unclear of the motive, or if it was a random act of violence. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
