ST. PAUL, Minn. – All Minnesota school districts must provide access to menstrual products at no charge in 2024 year under a new state law.
The bill sponsored by democratic representatives Cheryl Youakim, Sandra Feist and Senator Mary Kunesh says the products are required to be available in restrooms regularly used by female and male students in grades 4-12.
Some republicans lawmakers attempted to change the law’s wording to just “female restrooms,” but that was rejected.
About $2 per student was added to the 2024-2025 education finance bill to pay the free menstrual products law.
