FARGO (KFGO) – 23 years after he was hired to head the Downtown Community Partnership in Fargo, “Downtown Dave” is preparing to leave the city.
Dave Anderson said he is moving to Milwaukee to be closer to family.
Anderson was hired as the first ever executive director of the organization in 2000. He held a similar position in Sioux City, Iowa when he was hired in Fargo.
“A friend of mine was consulting with a group up here in Fargo on how it was that they needed to maybe put a downtown project together, and when they started to seek out somebody to take on the project, he knew of my work in Sioux City and recommended me for the job,” Anderson said. “Dr. Roger Gilbertson over at Meritcare, who was chairman of the board at the time, and I met and after a couple of meetings, we were on our way to Fargo.”
Anderson left the community partnership in 2009 when he joined Sanford Health as a public affairs representative. He retired from Stanford about three years ago.
Anderson, 70, said he and his wife, Linda, will move to Milwaukee in June.
