WEST FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Clean-up and bridge inspection are underway Friday morning after a container being hauled by a semi-truck crashed into an overpass on Center Street in West Fargo.
Dan Birnbaum is the street foreman for the city of West Fargo. He said this wasn’t the first time that overpass had been struck.
“We got the call around 8:30 and got over here as quick as we could to block the road off. There was a container that had come off a semi trailer on the side of the road. The road is closed now and we don’t know when it will be open – that’s up to the railroad. Inspectors are here right now checking it out. It’s just it’s one of those deals – the height is marked before the bridge, it’s marked on the bridge…just too tall,” he said.
There were no injuries as a result of the crash. City officials say that portion of Center Street – just north of Main Avenue E. to south of 7th Avenue NE – will be closed for an indefinite period of time for repairs.
