MINNEAPOLIS – People in the Loring Park neighborhood of Minneapolis are mourning the loss of a grocery store clerk who stabbed and beaten to death.
Police say they found the 66-year-old victim behind the counter of Oak Grove Grocery Friday afternoon with a serious stab wound from a golf club. Paramedics tried to save him, but he died in the hospital.
Friends identified the victim as Robert Skafte.
Investigators say a 44-year-old suspect barricaded himself in a nearby apartment and was arrested six hours later.
There’s a growing memorial of flowers and candles outside the store for Skafte, who is being remembering as a community builder and friendly fixture of the neighborhood.
