GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – Minnesota’s new state House office building won this year’s Center of the American Experiment Golden Turkey Award for wasteful spending and lack of transparency.
The office barely beat out the Northern Lights Express train to Duluth after it was announced that high interest rates for the project brought costs to $729 million.
House Democratic Majority Leader Jamie Long said the State Office Building’s numerous safety, security, and structural problems have been largely ignored for decades, and this once-in-a-generation renovation will ensure the facility can meet the dynamic needs of the Minnesota House.
