District 1 – Baudette area

CO Coby Fontes (Warroad South) reports the last week of the deer season was busy, and that hunting and fishing were decent for a lot of folks. Fontes made cases related to hunting, fishing, all-terrain vehicle and road vehicle operation. Fontes also assisted several local agencies with numerous calls for service. Enforcement action was taken for an overlimit of walleyes/saugers, operating an ATV with an un-helmeted juvenile onboard, driving after revocation, no proof of motor vehicle insurance, and for an unattended permitted burn.
CO Nicholas Prachar (Blackduck North) reports a busy end to the firearms deer season. Enforcement action was taken for transporting loaded firearms, unregistered deer, hunting while intoxicated, and driving while intoxicated.
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) continued field training with COC Sean Cannon this week. They spent time investigating a report of a wolf that had been found dead in an area field. Time was spent checking area deer hunters out in the field and at camps. They also spent a couple days working in the Cook area, which is where Cannon will be stationed upon completion of field training. Enforcement action was taken this week for deer-registration issues and shooting from the roadway.
CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls-West) patrolled during the final weekend of the firearms deer season in the area. He also investigated a TIP call concerning an overlimit of Canada geese, finding violations of overlimit of geese, no small-game license, and no state or federal waterfowl stamp. Other violations encountered this week included ATV-registration violations and transportation-of-firearms violations.
CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck) reports working deer-hunting activity throughout this past week. Time was spent following up on TIP information, handling calls of hunter harassment, shining and shooting from the road complaints. He also continued investigation of an ongoing deer-overlimit case. Violations encountered and addressed included operating ATVs during the restricted hours of operation for deer season.
CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week checking area deer hunters and following up on various complaints. Violations encountered were shooting from a motor vehicle, buck overlimit, illegally possess firearms five days before through two days after deer season, untagged big-game animal, and hunting big game without a license.
District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Tom Hutchins (Crookston) reports following up on deer cases and complaints from the firearms deer season. Time was also spent checking anglers, archery deer hunters, and small-game hunters.
CO Brice Vollbrecht (Bemidji #1) continued field training COC Nick Bruesewitz. The pair continued to monitor deer hunters throughout the area. Fewer hunters were observed afield during the last week of the firearms deer season. Small-game hunters were also contacted, with hunters reporting some success. Violations encountered this week included hunting deer over bait, no license in possession, and hunting with a firearm on a state game refuge.
CO Andrew Goodman (Perham) conducted deer-season follow up on various cases and complaints. Waterfowl-hunting activity slowed but plenty of geese remain in the area. Additional time was spent on scheduling meetings with local government units.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week following up on cases from the rifle deer season. Other time was spent in preparation for the winter season.
CO Bill Landmark (Pelican Rapids) spent the week following up on cases and reports from the firearms deer season.
CO Brett Fox (Bemidji #2) spent the week focusing on deer-hunting activity. Hunter numbers were significantly lower than the previous week and the harvest continued to be below average. Violations this week include feeding deer in a county affected by the feeding ban and ATV-registration issues.
District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Hanna Wood (Fergus Falls) spent the week working on follow up from the deer season. She took several more calls regarding dead deer that were found. The consensus was that everyone had a slow season, but a lucky few did well.
CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) followed up on deer-season complaints, finalized reports, and took several deer-carcass-dumping calls. Waterfowl hunters and archery deer hunters were checked throughout the week. ATV operators were monitored and equipment maintenance was performed.
CO Ryan Brown (Elbow Lake) reports checking pheasant-hunting and angling activity throughout the week. He also did follow up on active cases and answered hunting related questions.
CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) checked anglers and boaters and pheasant and archery deer hunters. Questions regarding turkeys, deer-possession permits, and snowmobile safety classes were received and answered. A trap-tampering complaint was investigated.
CO Mitch Lawler (Alexandria) continued field training with COC Scholz. A few cases were wrapped up from deer season involving failure to register deer and lending/borrowing tags. The officers spent time in Swift County over the weekend and encountered many pheasant hunters. Violations included no license in possession and having lead shot in a waterfowl production area. Other violations found during the week included operating an ATV without headlights, burning garbage, and burning without a permit. Burning violations continue to be an ongoing issue.
CO Felicia Znajda (Osakis) followed up on big-game violations from the deer season. The number of pheasant and duck hunters dropped throughout the week, but she?s still seeing few here and there. She investigated various reports of violations throughout the week including but not limited to shining activity and dumped deer. Various enforcement action was taken.
CO Emily Douvier (Morris) reports helping training staff with various tasks and answering questions about trespassing laws. Deer-possession tags were also issued.
CO Daniel Baumbarger (Glenwood) reports enforcement efforts for the week were concentrated on checking trappers, pheasant, and waterfowl hunters. Additional time was spent following up on cases from the deer season and wetland violations. Baumbarger also investigated a trespass complaint and a complaint of a waterfowl hunter using a motor on a non-motorized lake.
