RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – As a precaution, a brief shelter-in-place order was issued in Colfax, North Dakota Tuesday night after an anhydrous ammonia chemical leak.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office says the leak was reported shortly before 10 p.m. about a mile west of Colfax on County Road 4.
An employee of Minn-Kota Ag Products, the company that owns the tank, arrived on the scene and saw the anhydrous leak coming from the valve on the large bulk tank.
Colfax firefighters and the company employee used small tanks to off-load the remaining anhydrous from the large tank.
The incident is under investigation.
