JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) โ A man considered dangerous who escaped from the State Hospital in Jamestown shortly Tuesday afternoon is in custody.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said 28-year-old Jeffrey Cofresi was taken into custody by law enforcement around 7 Tuesday night.
In July of 2022, Cofresi assaulted a deputy from the Cass County Sheriffโs Office while incarcerated at the Cass County Jail. The assault occurred in the jailโs maximum security housing unit. Cofresi was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Police, and other agencies are searching for a man who escaped from the State Hospital in Jamestown Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Jeffrey Cofresi was last seen walking west near State Hospital Road. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with a white logo, black sweatpants, and black crocks.
Cofresi, who law enforcement said has violent tendencies, is Hispanic, 5โ10โ, 180 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He has tattoos on his wrist and neck as well as a scar on his neck.
The Highway Patrol is advising the public not to make contact with Cofresi, but call 911 instead.
