FARGO (KFGO KVRR) – Fargo Police recently created a Victim Advocate position to provide additional resources to victims of crime.
The advocate will help introduce victims to programs and guide them through the legal process.
Police Chief David Zibolski said his department understands how confusing and stressful the process can be when involved in a crime.
“People call us when they’re not familiar with the criminal justice system. We have our detectives and investigators that are involved in the investigations themselves which sometimes makes it difficult for them to stay in regular contact with victims let them know what’s going to happen as things go to court you know what are the next steps. What resources might they be able to get as victims, things of that nature.”
The person hired for the position began work last week.
