STILLWATER, Minn. – A Kittson County farmer is showing that he knows a thing or two about raising pumpkins.
Charlie Bernstrom of Lancaster won the pumpkin weigh-off at Stillwater Harvest Fest on Saturday with an entry that weighed just over 2,500 pounds. Bernstrom had hoped that the pumpkin named “Joy” would challenge the recent world record of just over 2,700 pounds set by an Anoka, Minnesota man during a recent weight-in held in California.
Bernstrom’s pumpkin did set a record for the Stillwater festival.
