MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO/WCCO) – For the second time in two weeks, an inmate has died inside the Hennepin County Jail.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said the 36-year-old man was found unresponsive in his bed on Tuesday following an apparent “medical incident.”
That man was later pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center.
“I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the individual’s loved ones,” Sheriff Dawanna Witt said. “These incidents weigh heavy on all those impacted. I appreciate the consideration and professionalism that was shown by our staff and partners who responded to assist with the incident.”
A 21-year-old inmate died Sept. 18 during what was described as a “medical incident” as nursing staff attended to the man inside the jail’s medical room.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has not revealed cause of death for either inmate.
