ROLETTE, N.D. (KFGO) – The Highway Patrol has released the name of a Fargo man who died in a crash in Rolette County in north central North Dakota Thursday evening.
Cody Wolthuis, 30, was driving a pickup when he failed to yield at an intersection and was struck by a semi pulling a loaded grain trailer.
The pickup went into the ditch and Wolthuis, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.
The semi went into the other ditch and caught fire. The semi driver, 25-year-old Derrek Martin, was seriously hurt and taken to the Rolla hospital.
The crash happened three miles north of Rolette shortly after 6 p.m.
My son was Cody Wolthuis. He did try to yield but his brakes were going out. It was a freak accident. He was actually on his way to fix his breaks but didn’t make it unfortunately. I so miss my boy!
