
Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
ST. PAUL, Minn. – An annual report from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension shows an 8.6% decline in violent crime last year.
Violent crimes were down nearly 13% in outstate Minnesota and 6.9% in the Twin Cities metro.
The BCA said the 182 murders in 2022 is a 9.5% decrease from 201 killings in 2021. Carjackings fell by 23% in Minnesota last year, but vehicle thefts rose 12.9% to 16,743 which is the highest number of stolen vehicles since 2001.
