MINNEAPOLIS – Four masked carjackers beat a Minnesota Democratic party leader in the driveway of her Minneapolis home as her children watched and the carjackers held back at gunpoint neighbors who tried to intervene.
Shivanthi Sathanandan displayed her injuries on a social media post. She suffered a broken leg, cuts to her head and bruises. Her car was later found abandoned.
Carjackers face tougher penalties in Minnesota under a new law and sentencing guidelines that took effect August 1. No arrests have been made.
