MILBANK, S.D. (KFGO) – A Milbank man is in jail on murder and assault charges for the death of another man in rural Grant County in northeastern South Dakota.
According to Attorney General Marty Jackley, 33-year-old Joseph Bendel was arrested Monday.
Deputies responded to a report of an assault Sunday evening where 34-year-old Douglas Lindberg Jr., also of Milbank, had been injured. Lindberg died early Monday.
“We appreciate the work and cooperation of local law enforcement in apprehending this suspect,” Jackley said. “The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and DCI will continue their due diligence in conducting this further investigation.”
Bendel is in the Grant County Jail in Milbank. He has been charged with second degree murder, aggravated assault, and multiple outstanding warrants.
