MONTEVIDEO, Minn. (KFGO) – The goaltender on the national champion Gustavus Adolphus Women’s Hockey team in St. Peter is dead after a crash in Chippewa County in western Minnesota.
The State Patrol says an SUV driven by 19-year-old Gianna Gasparini of Lakeville collided with a van driven by 28-year-old Brandi Rasmussen of Benson at the intersection of Highways 40 and 29.
Gasparini’s passenger and teammate, 19-year-old Jori Jones of Little Canada, died at the hospital in Montevideo. Gasparini and two passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Rasmussen was taken to the Benson hospital.
Gasparini is the daughter of Sioux Falls Stampede General Manager Tony Gasprini of the USHL and the granddaughter of former University of North Dakota hockey coach Gino Gasparini.
