ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association is not happy that Governor Tim Walz met this week with the family of a man shot to death by a state trooper.
The group’s attorney sent a letter to the governor Thursday expressing the concerns of its members.
“This private meeting, called “important” by Cobb’s family, with unknown assurances and information, specifically undermines the due process, rule of law, and rights of our law enforcement officers,” the letter said.
33-year-old Cobb was shot to death by Trooper Ryan Londregan during a July 31 traffic stop on I-94 in north Minneapolis. The head of the State Patrol has said that the initial investigation supported the use of deadly force.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension continues to investigate the shooting.
