(KFGO/KNFL) A second Moorhead youth baseball team is heading to a national tournament. The Moorhead 15-year-old team has qualified for the Babe Ruth World Series 13-15 Year Old Tournament in Jamestown, NY.
Moorhead will compete with teams from states such as New York, North Carolina, Connecticut, Oregon, California, Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Wisconsin. The tournament begins August 12 with pool play, with the championship game on August 19.
Moorhead won the Midwest Plains Regional held in Henning, MN last week, winning five total games. In pool play, Moorhead was victorious over Charleston, MO 9-6, Williston 8-5, and Breckenridge 7-0. In the semifinals, Moorhead held off Fergus Falls 4-2.
Park River, the North Dakota Class B champ, was Moorhead’s opponent in the final. Moorhead held off a late rally for a 6-5 victory.
Moorhead players chosen to the all-tournament team were Jaimeson Dunlap, Taye Reich, Riley Dickhaus, Carson Heinsch, Brayden Kvamme, and Conner Zimmerman.
A Moorhead 14U team starts play this weekend in Fredericksburg, VA this weekend in another Babe Ruth World Series Tournament.
