John Dittrich, who was the first general manager of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, passed away this morning. He was 73.
Dittrich spent many years in baseball, working in affiliated minor league baseball and with independent league teams. He spent just over two years in Fargo-Moorhead as the general manager of the RedHawks in 1996 and 1997, eventually leaving midway through the 1998 season.
He worked for teams in several states including Texas, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, and Arizona as well as in Canada.
Dittrich also spent time in Major League Baseball working with the Texas Rangers for five years. He had been living in Tempe, Arizona the last few years, and was native of the Chicago, IL area.
