SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Alexis Saborit of Shakopee has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the gruesome killing of his girlfriend in front of several witnesses two years ago in downtown Shakopee.
According to court documents, America Thayer was beaten to death and beheaded.
Witnesses saw Saborit pull the body out of a car at 4th Avenue and Spencer Street, dispose of a machete, and run away on June 28, 2021.
Saborit previously waived his right to a jury trial, and instead had a stipulated facts trial at the Scott County Government Center.
A district judge decided the case.
