(KFGO/KNFL) The Class B girls earned its third consecutive victory over Class A, while the Class A boys returned the favor on night one of the Lions All-Star Basketball Series in Bismarck on Monday evening.
Rylan Burgess of Cavalier led five Class B players in double digits with 14 points, including four three-pointers in an 85-77 Class B victory in the girls’ matchup. Mykell Heidlebaugh of Rugby and Ellie Braaten of Westhope-Newburg scored 13 points each, while Decontee Smith of Central Cass and Hailey Quam of Shiloh Christian also his double figures with 11.
Class B also got it done from the free throw line, shooting 19-22 from the stripe.
Century’s Bergan Kinnebrew led Class A with 22 points, followed by West Fargo’s Miriley Simon with 15.
In the boys’ game, Class A used a 10-0 over 2 1/2 minutes midway through the second half to pull away in a 106-94 victory. Class B did trim the Class A lead to 81-73 when Sam Kobbervig of Central Cass sank a three-pointer with 7:48 to play in the game, but that was as close as Class B would get the remainder of the game.
Minot’s Darik Dissette, who will play at NDSU in the fall, led Class A with 23 points. Anthony Doppler of Century chipped in 13 points, and Shanley’s Conner Kraft finished with 11 points.
North Border’s Ayden Stainbrook led Class B with 21 points on seven three-pointers.
The series moves to Fargo South High School tonight, with the girls to play at 6:00 and the boys at 8:00 PM.
