Minnesota AG Ellison setting up task force to stop worker ‘misclassification’

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is setting up a task force to recommend to state lawmakers how to stop employers from “misclassifying” their workers.  

Ellison said the misclassification happens when employers, to avoid paying benefits and payroll taxes, tell employees they’re independent contractors.

Ellison said most employers do the right thing but misclassification still happens “with a fair degree of frequency.”
