FARGO (KFGO) – The National Weather Service in Grand Forks is reporting that this June was the warmest on record for Fargo and the Grand Forks International Airport.
The average temperature in Fargo was 74.8 degrees, one degree warmer than the previous record set in 1988.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Dan Riddle said the record average can be attributed to record overnight lows.
“Our overall average low temperatures were very warm,” Riddle said. “If you look at the average low temperature – that also was the warmest ever with the average low temperature being 63.7, and nearly four degrees above the previous record of 60.1.”
Riddle said this June was the fourth warmest for high temperatures, with the average being 85.9 degrees.
At the Grand Forks Airport, the average temperature was 71.6 degrees. That is .2 degrees higher than the previous record set in 1988.
