FARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks split a doubleheader against the Sioux City Explorers Saturday evening.
The RedHawks topped the Explorers 2-1 in the first game of the doubleheader.
Sioux City got on the board first in game number one with a Vince Fernandez RBI single that plated Delvin Zinn in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The ‘Hawks rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning loading the bases when the recently acquired Zack Miller got hit a 2-run walk off single to give Fargo-Moorhead a 2-1 victory.
In the second game of the double header the Explorers bounced back with a 8-1 win over the RedHawks.
Sioux City got on the board in the top of the first inning plating three runs to take a 3-0 lead.
Andy Gravdahl knocked in Alec Olund on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the second to cutting the X’s lead to 3-1
The Explorers added a solo home run off the bat of Chase Harris in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Sioux City put up another 4 runs in the top of the seventh inning including a 3-run blast by Wilfredo Gimenez to take an 8-1 lead.
The RedHawks and Sioux City continue their series Sunday afternoon, Jack Michaels will have the call, pregame at 12:40 p.m. first pitch 1:00 p.m. on 740 The Fan and 107.3FM.
