SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks got the long ball going as they top the Sioux Falls Canaries 9-4 Saturday evening.
The RedHawks jumped on the board first when Leo Pina hit an RBI single that plated Manny Boscan in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Fargo-Moorhead added a run in the top of the third inning as Boscan scored on a passed ball to take a 2-0 lead.
The Milkmen answered in the home half of the third inning when Mike Hart hit a 2-run home run to tie the game at 2-2.
The ‘Hawks broke things open with the bask-to-back-to-back long balls in the top of the fifth inning starting with a 2-run blast by Dillon Thomas. Pina and John Silviano followed suit with solo shots to give the RedHawks a 6-2 lead.
An Evan Alexander homer in the top of the sixth lifted Fargo-Moorhead to a 7-2 lead.
The Canaries put up 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning cutting the RedHawks lead to 7-4.
Thomas put the RedHawks up 9-4 with a 2-run blast in the top of the ninth inning his second home run of the game.
The RedHawks continue the series with the Sioux Falls Canaries on Sunday afternoon, Jack Michaels will have the call, pregame at 11:45 a.m. first pitch 12:05 p.m. on 740 The Fan and 107.3FM.
