ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of its K-9 Officer, Ranger.
Officials say the four-year-old Belgian Malinois and his handler were training for an upcoming trial Sunday when Ranger suffered a medical emergency. Ranger was taken to an animal hospital and succumbed to his illness.
Ranger joined the sheriff’s office in 2020 and was trained to detect drugs, and in patrol work.
Deputies said Ranger was taken way before his time.
