ST. PAUL, Minn. – Some changes are coming to Minnesota’s medical cannabis program following the passage of recreational marijuana this legislative session. Office of Medical Cannabis Director Chris Tholkes says the $200 annual enrollment fee will be eliminated on July 1.
She says some of the issues that have been identified as barriers to accessing the medical program have been removed and those are happening immediately or over this summer. That means that potentially people who have wanted to take advantage of the medical program go ahead and enroll.
Tholkes says a patient’s initial certification visit with a health care provider can be done via “telemedicine” on August 1. Recreational cannabis retailers aren’t expected to open until early 2025.
