WEST FARGO (KFGO) – A juvenile is facing a felony charge, suspected of starting a fire in a West Fargo park building Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to Dakota Park at 5600 9th Street W. around 1:10 p.m. for a fire in a building with public restrooms and park facilities. The fire was knocked down quickly. No one was hurt, but the building sustained over $6,000 in damage.
“Our detectives worked diligently to identify the suspect responsible within hours of the incident,” Chief Denis Otterness said. “I would like to commend our officers for their quick response and thank the West Fargo Fire Department for their ongoing partnership.”
Moorhead Police are investigating a fire at Village Green Park last week, but West Fargo Police said the boy does not appear to be involved in any other fires in the area.
The boy could be charged with a Class C felony of endangering by fire. Police said his name and age will not be released.
