MINNEAPOLIS โ Allina Health will temporarily stop using a scheduling policy a week after the New York Times published allegations of denied care and aggressive billing prices.
The investigation, which caught attorney general Keith Ellisonโs attention, claimed that the health system would tell employees to cancel or lockout non-emergency appointments for patients with over $4,500 of unpaid medical debt.
Allina says it will take a thoughtful pause on any new interruptions to non-emergent, outpatient clinic scheduling while it re-examines the policy.
Ellison says patients who may have been denied care or otherwise affected by Allina policies should contact his office.
