MINNEAPOLIS – A Minneapolis man who fired three gunshots inside the Mall of America last summer has pleaded guilty to assault charges.
Shamar Lark, 21, was scheduled for trial next Monday, but admitted to firing “warning shots,” claiming it was to ward off attackers. However, Lark also acknowledged the alleged attackers never fired shots or pointed a firearm in his direction.
Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said Lark “lost a fight and he pulled out a gun.”
Lark and an accomplice evaded police with the help of Best Western hotel employees who picked them up in a shuttle bus and a week later were arrested in Chicago.
