Omar Martinez
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO KNOX) – A large police and SWAT team presence descended upon the 1200 block of 39th Street in north Grand Forks Monday afternoon as authorities attempted to serve a high-risk warrant in connection with a Sunday morning shooting. A shelter-in-place for the neighborhood was lifted at 3:45 p.m.
It is believed that police are looking for 25-year-old Omar Martinez of Grand Forks.
Martinez has been charged with attempted murder and reckless endangerment. Authorities say he fired a gun at a car occupied by an adult and a juvenile around 9 a.m. Sunday on South Columbia Road.
Police say an initial investigation showed the incident stemmed from a confrontation the previous night and appeared to be a targeted incident between people known to each other. No injuries were reported.
