FARGO (KFGO) – Developer Jim Roers says his plans for building seven townhomes in north Fargo were, “a bit rocky,” but that the project will be completed by the May 31 deadline that was set by the city. His company, Roers Construction, faced possible penalties had the deadline not been met.
Roers failed to build the townhomes by the original deadline, which was set for the end of 2021. He was harshly criticized by some members of the city commission but he argued completion was delayed due to rising costs and supply chain issues during the COVID pandemic.
After several months of legal issues, the city and Roers reached an agreement to have the townhomes completed by the May 31 deadline.
He says city staff and engineering have already done a walk-through of the townhomes and workers are doing some touch-ups and installation of appliances ahead the final inspection next week.
Roers says the townhomes are listed in the $300,000 range and potential buyers have already been viewing the homes. He adds that if the properties don’t sell, there’s a plan to rent the homes.
The townhomes are built as a buffer between the neighborhood and a new development that includes the St. Paul’s Newman Center, faith-based housing, and apartments, and is located near the NDSU campus.
