Music can be a lot of things. Healing. Empowering. Escaping. One thing is for sure, it just hits different live.
Few things replicate a concert. The gathering of people captivated in that moment. A lyric that can alter a mood. Literally FEELING the beat pulse through your body can be a therapeutic release from whatever may be ailing you emotionally. The thing is, you might not know or expect it to happen. It did for us on a Friday night in Fargo watching Rocket Club.
Look, I’ve been guilty of it. Getting to the end of the work day and deciding a low-key, quiet evening might be more satisfying than whatever excitement I had for a concert. I’ve skipped out on more than I care to acknowledge. Bottom line, I took for granted that I’d go experience it next time.
That changed when the pandemic took it all away from us. We didn’t know when that next time would happen. Since then, I’ve tried to put in more of an effort to show up and rock out. Turns out, live music seems to find whatever little pent-up energy you didn’t know was there. I haven’t regretted it once. I’m simply here to encourage you to try the same.
It just hits different live.
