(KFGO/KNFL) Long time Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks manager Doug Simunic will have his number retired this summer. Simunic’s number 33 will be retired in a ceremony on June 9 when the RedHawks host the Chicago Dogs.
Simunic managed the RedHawks from the team’s inception in 1996 until August 2017, winning 1,202 games. His record with the RedHawks was 1202-826, a .593 winning percentage. He led the team to five Northern League championships in 1998, 2003, 2006. 2009, and 2010.
Simunic also managed in Rochester and Winnipeg in the Northern League prior to his time with the RedHawks. He spent 42 years in professional baseball as a player, coach, or manager in the United States, Canada, Italy, and Mexico.
