The news of the Hollywood writers going on strike resulted in a shrug of the shoulders and a “so what?” to me. Am I cold and heartless? I guess so. But to me if teachers, nurses, police or even the sanitation workers went on strike I’d be much more concerned. How does a Hollywood writers strike impact me? Please let me know. Maybe I’m missing something. It’s entertainment. It’s not life and death or broad impact on the well being of society.
When NFL or MLB strike I feel the same. When COVID cancelled sports I felt most sorry for the workers on the grounds crew, vendors and their families. In this world the entertainers will end up getting their pay and do okay. The rest of the foundation and the support are the one’s who hurt.
To be honest I care so little I don’t even know what they are striking about. I think of the history of unions and the unsafe working conditions resulting in loss of limbs and life. So if the stunt men are being put in harm. By all means strike. I’m for ya. But life goes on for me.
