DILWORTH, Minn. (KFGO) – Police in Dilworth are looking for a man they say fired multiple shots in a parking lot there this morning.
Chief Ty Sharpe said 911 calls, the first of which came in at 10:43 a.m. Tuesday, provided the same description of the suspect.
“The callers stated there was a male in a parking lot shooting across the parking lot near 208 Fifth St. NW. There were multiple shots fired by a light-skinned black male wearing a long-sleeve hoodie, 20 to 30 years of age,” Sharpe said.
One of the callers said the man appeared to be shooting the gun at something he was using for target practice. Sharpe said officers arrived on scene three minutes after the calls came in and found multiple shell casings in the parking lot, but were unable to find anyone matching the description.
Three apartment buildings in the vicinity were searched. Sharpe said the elementary school, which is about nine blocks away, was locked down for a brief period due to its relative proximity to the shooting. Sharpe says he doesn’t believe there’s any further threat to the public related to the incident.
The incident is still under investigation. Members of the Metro Street Crimes Unit and Clay County Sheriff’s department also responded to the call.
