Don Schmidt, 53, of Fargo passed away peacefully under comfort care at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo on April 11.
He grew up in Davenport, ND and graduated from high school in Kindred in 1988.
He then met Sharon McGowan. They married in October 1992 and later divorced. They remain good friends.
At the time of his death, Don was a heavy equipment operator, working as a foreman.
He loved cooking and being an auto mechanic, working on and building engines. He also loved mud runs. He drove his pickup “Captain Caveman” in various towns around North Dakota. He worked on Caveman, keeping it mud run ready.
Don leaves behind his sister, Lisa (John) Seely of Casselton, brother Mark, Vergas, Minn., nephew Jess Seely and great nephew Logan Daniel Seely of Arthur, niece Tawni Seely of Fargo, ex-wife Sharon Schmidt of Fargo, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Grace Schmidt.
