FARGO (KFGO) – After several unproductive meetings with the owners of the Windbreak in south Fargo, city leaders, including Police Chief Dave Zibolski, were able to meet with management to discuss problems at the bar that resulted in police calls over the past year.
City Auditor Steve Sprague said the Monday meeting was in relation to problems including over-intoxication at the bar, minors on premises, and fights. He said the meeting was very productive.
“We agreed on some areas of potential improvement and, at this point, want to formalize our verbal understanding with an agreement,” Sprague said.
Zibolski said he believes there is a good understanding of what management at the Windreak is going to do differently like using ID scanners, getting bouncers into de-escalation training, and being more attentive to over-intoxication.
Commissioner Dave Piepkorn said the city attorney will draw up a written agreement between the City and the Windbreak. That agreement will be presented at a later meeting.
At Wednesday’s Liquor Control Board meeting Zibolski said the Windbreak helped police with an incident earlier this month where someone was at the bar with a BB gun.
