ST. PAUL, Minn. – A Mounds View, Minnesota man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for shooting his wife to death 13 years ago in St. Paul.
A jury found Nicholas Firkus guilty of first-and second-degree murder in the shooting of Heidi Firkus. She was shot to death in April 2010.
Nicholas Firkus claimed that he was struggling with an intruder when the shotgun went off, striking his wife in the back.
Police found no signs of a break-in and the FBI said it used new technology to tie the husband to the shooting in 2021.
