BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – Gov. Doug Burgum has signed a bill once again allowing cigar bars in North Dakota.
Under House Bill 1229, businesses will need to generate 15 percent or more of their income by selling cigars.
Cigar lounges will also be required to be fully enclosed and have ventilation that prevents the air from being recirculated or back streamed to nonsmoking areas of the building.
A 2012 ballot measure banned smoking in all public spaces.
The cigar bar law goes into effect on Aug. 1.
