Not too many months ago, my social media feed was filled with a collection of photographs that featured folks wearing turn of the century garb, old timey cars andโฆa full on Hollywood film crew.
I knew a LOT of people who headed out to the western part of North Dakota to have background roles in โEnd of the Rope.โ The movie tells the true crime story of murder, a vigilante posse and the last hanging in North Dakota.
Here is the trailer
My hope is that this film does well. It finds an audience โ but more importantly I hope the filmmakers had a fruitful experience and they return to their big cities and tell the tales of how cooperative North Dakotans are when asked to pitch in on a project. The landscape, the economy, the ease in transportation โ there is little in my mind that could be negatives when speaking about making a movie in my home state.
It deserves a look. It also deserves your dollars. Did you know that stretching a dollar in North Dakota is a way of life to us already? Yep! We can help take your $100,000 budget and make it buy $250,000!
I have stood on this soapbox for over a decade and now is a great time to diversify our portfolio in the ND economy. Getting companies to step foot into ND will also help build our ability to retain and attract talent to our area. Costumers are clothing designers. Electricians are Key Grips. It goes on and on.
Make more movies in North Dakota. And hey, North Dakota โ add some tax incentives and then we can start reeling in the cash from hotels, restaurants, stores, etcโฆ that accompany a movie shoot!
