MAIDA, N.D. (KFGO/KNOX) – Operating hours at three North Dakota ports of entry along the Canadian border will be temporarily expanded beginning April 1.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection made the announcement Monday, affecting ports of entry in Maida in Cavalier County, Northgate in Burke County, and Sherwood in Renville County.
Customs and Border Patrol said two hours will be added at the end of the workday, resulting in new hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for 120 days.
Officials said current traffic volumes in North Dakota remain about 39 percent below 2019 pre-pandemic levels. After 120 days, CBP will conduct an analysis on traffic flow.
The border crossings at Pembina and Dunseith are staffed 24 hours a day.
