(KFGO/KNFL) Blinn College used a 17-0 first-half run to build a 34-9 lead and defeat NDSCS 80-63 in the second round of the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Tournament in Lubbock, TX.
Jakoriah Long led five Buccaneers with 17 points. Blinn lead 28-9 after the opening quarter, then built the lead to 34-9 early in the second quarter. The Wildcats played even the remainder of the game, but were unable to make a run until late in the fourth quarter. NDSCS’s Tiny Lewis drilled a pair of three-pointers late in the fourth quarter to cut the Blinn lead to 75-61.
Ivy Fox led the Wildcats with 19 points on 8-13 from the floor, while Maile Hunt added 13 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. Science was hampered by 23 turnovers in the game.
NDSCS finishes the season 30-5, the second consecutive season with 30 victories.
