FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team has been selected as an automatic qualifier for the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the first time in program history, the organization announced on Monday.
The Bison (18-11) totaled their most wins in a season since 2004-05 and finished in second place in the Summit League to earn the automatic qualifier into the WNIT, which goes to the highest-finishing team in its conference regular season standings and is not selected to the NCAA Tournament. NDSU was the only Summit League school selected to the 64-team field.
The Bison will travel to Oregon (17-14) on Friday. It will be the first all-time meeting between the Ducks and the Bison. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. CT at Matthew Knight Arena.
