(KFGO/KNFL) Jeremiah Sem and Matthew Sem combined for 51 points as Fargo North won its first State Class A Boys Basketball title since 2006 with a 92-83 win over Red River at NDSU on Saturday.
The Spartans scored 50 first-half points to build a 50-36 halftime lead. The Roughriders, led by Zac Kraft and Reis Rowekamp, led a second-half rally as Red River led 69-65 with 8:00 left in the 2nd half before North came back, taking the lead back at 72-71 and not relinquishing it.
Jeremish Sem was named the Tournament MVP. The combined 175 points set a record for points in a Class A final.
Jocelyn Schiller scored 34 points and Red River used a stingy defense in a 61-48 win over Bismarck Century in the Class A girls final. The Roughriders held the Patriots to 34% from the field. It’s the first Class A title for Red River since 1988.
