JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – Jamestown police have arrested a man on suspicion of breaking into vehicles, stealing wallets, and using the stolen credit cards to make purchases/attempted purchases around town.
Last week, police received a report from a victim who had their wallet stolen from their vehicle, including a credit card which was later used to attempt a purchase at a local store.
On Thursday, a second victim reported having their wallet stolen from their vehicle sometime the previous evening. That person’s credit card was later used to make a purchase over $1000.
During the investigation, it was determined both the purchase and attempted purchase were made at the same store, by the same individual, using the two stolen credit cards. Based on video surveillance, a suspect was identified and located by police at a home in Jamestown and taken into custody. Property purchased using the stolen credit card was also seized.
34-year-old Cory Douglas Lamont, of Jamestown, has been arrested on suspicion of 6 felony offenses.
Lamont was taken to Stutsman County Corrections, where he awaits formal charges. Police say the investigation into these and similar incidents are on-going and further charges are possible.
