(KFGO/KNFL) The North Dakota State Boys Hockey Tournament starts Thursday in Grand Forks at Ralph Engelstad Arena. This year’s tournament is separate from the girls’ state tournament. That will be held in early March in Minot.
Red River is the top team from the East Region. The Roughriders ride a ten-game unbeaten streak into the quarterfinal versus Jamestown at noon on Thursday.
Minot faced Sheyenne in the other quarterfinal on the top half of the bracket. The Mustangs defeated Grand Forks Central in the EDC qualifier this weekend to qualify for state for the second straight season.
Bismarck Legacy is the top seed from the West Region, and will face Fargo Davies at 5:30 on Thursday night. Davies beat Fargo North in a four-overtime thriller to qualify for state on Saturday.
South-Shanley takes on Bismarck Century at 8:30 on Thursday night in the final game of the day. The two teams did not face off in the regular season.
